A Showcase of Creative Album Artwork

I’ve always thought that one of the most challenging tasks for any graphic designer is to create an album cover. When it comes to designing the artwork that represents music, there are no rules. You can go for an entirely minimal style – like The Beatles’ White Album – or you could go for a bold, colourful, brash and vibrant, cluttered affair, or anything in-between. It’s entirely down to you, what you want to create and what you think would suit the mood and tone of the music. The reason it’s so challenging is because it’s so open to interpretation – when you have no constraints at all, it can be remarkably hard to even begin to know where to start.

I wanted to bring together a collection of some fantastically realised album covers – artwork that I think does a great job of being unexpectedly creative, intriguing and exciting. Hopefully these album covers will help to get your creative juices flowing, and maybe even inspire you to give some concept album covers a try.
